Welcome to Cancer Rider: A Journey of Hope on Two Wheels
My name is James Bradford, but on the road and in this space, I go by Cancer Rider. I created this blog to share two powerful things: my mission to raise awareness and funds for the City of Hope in the fight against cancer—and the open-road stories of my motorcycle travels across this beautiful country.
In 2023, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Since then, my life has changed in ways I never could’ve imagined. The treatments have left me with Type 1 diabetes, and cancer has made my journey terminal. But even in the face of this, I refuse to stop living, giving, or riding.
Before cancer, I served as a police officer and proudly wore the uniform of the United States Coast Guard. Now, I ride not just for myself, but for everyone who’s been touched by this disease—patients, survivors, loved ones, and fellow warriors. Cancer may have changed my path, but it hasn't silenced my purpose.
This blog is a space for inspiration, reflection, and community. You’ll find updates on my fundraising for City of Hope, stories from the road, photos from the saddle of my bike, and glimpses into the highs and lows of life with cancer.
Whether you’re here because cancer has touched your life or because you feel the freedom of the open road in your soul—welcome. You’re not alone. And together, we ride with hope.
